Never before in history the concert public of the People’s Republlc of China has had the opportunity to listen to a concert solely dedicated to music for piano for four hands. The Jordans & Van Doeselaar pianoduo will be the very first to make this possible, for on October 20th 2005 they will depart for a ten day tour through China during which they will play in the metropoles Changsha, Wuhan, Nanjing and Shanghai.
Radio and TV alike will pay much attention to these concerts. A local sponsor in Changsha (with six million inhabitants the smallest of the four cities visited) will have set up a huge video screen in the city centre on which the whole performance will be projected. Since the tour of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in 1996 no other Dutch music company was so largely spotlighted.
The programme includes Bach’s great ‘Toccata and Fugue’ and the ‘Carnaval des animaux’ by Camille Saint-Saëns. The duo will also perform compositions for two piano’s, among which Maurice Ravel’s own arrangement of his famous ‘Boléro’.
The tour is organized by Coryphée in Hilversum and is sponsored by Fugro.
