Leo van Doeselaar

Presentation of new CD in the Pieterskerk in Leiden

Amsterdam, Fri, 8. Oct 2004 — On October 22nd 2004 Leo van Doeselaar will give an organ concerto dedicated to the great Dutch composer J.P. Sweelinck.

On Friday 22 October Leo van Doeselaar will perform compositions by the greatest Dutch composer of all, Jan Pietersz. Sweelinck (1562-1621), on the fabulous Hagerbeer organ in the Pieterskerk in Leyden (NL). The programme will be similar to that of the Sweelinck CD recorded by Bloomline last May. Cd and concert are part of a project of DutchTypeLibrary, an organization that aims at the production and edition of high-quality digital letter fonts of Dutch and Flemish origin.

On October 29th Van Doeselaar will play the German première of Wolfgang Rihm's Organ Concerto "Unbenannt IV" at the Herkulessaal in Munich, together with the Orchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks under Lothar Zagrosek. The concert will be recorded to be broadcasted later on radio and TV.

Last year Van Doeselaar already performed the world première of Rihm's concerto in Luzern with the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam under Ricardo Chailly.
